Ruby, the Queens and the House of Bijou
Aspiring actress and current seamstress, Ruby has always dreamed of the West End stage. So, when she's offered the opportunity to work as a seamstress on Broadway, she flies from London to New York, hoping to finally catch her big break and make it as a Broadway Star.
Alone in a new city, Ruby feels lost without her best friend Elliot by her side every day. That is until one evening, when Elliot convinces her to go out and friend some friends, and she meets a group of drag queens performing in a local bar.
These are the queens of the House of Bijou, a queer family first formed by the late-great transgender drag queen, Persephone, now headed by her chosen daughter Brooklyn and drag queen, Bella Donna.
The House of Bijou recognise another lost soul in Ruby and take her under their wings, introducing her to New York's LGBTQIA+ culture, from the drag scene to the Harlem Ball from which House culture was born. Most importantly though, the House of Bijou teach Ruby what a loving family truly means in the queer community.
When Ruby's confidence takes a hit and she stops believing in herself, it is the House of Bijou who show her that she can find her courage by channeling her inner drag queen.
